Editorial policy

Open Regional News aims for clear, careful explanations of regional geography and identity. We distinguish established information from interpretation, make the limits of a claim visible, and correct material when we find it is wrong.

Accuracy and clarity

We check names, descriptions and factual claims against suitable sources before publication, and frame uncertain or contested points accordingly. Articles should make clear whether they are describing a physical feature, a mapped boundary, a historical account or an interpretation of regional identity. We do not present a broad generalisation as a universal account of local experience.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made for reader relevance and clarity. A partner, contributor or commercial relationship does not buy favourable coverage or editorial control. We will identify relevant interests when they could affect how readers understand a piece.

Corrections

If a published article contains a factual error or a misleading description, we review the concern and amend the text where warranted. Significant corrections are noted with the article so readers can see what changed; send details through the Contact page.

Partner material and illustrations

Paid or partner-supported material is clearly labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. Partner placements are identified at the point where they appear. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; when they are, they are labelled as such and are not presented as documentary images.
